Tales has been designed as an entirely new game experience.

    Brief summary of core features:

Character Customiation and True Unique Spell System
In Tales, players have no class, and are free to choose from a number of customised races when they enter the game world. Abilities are collected throughout the world, and up to 8 can be equipped at a time, allowing players to develop truly unique builds. There are hundreds of abilities to collect, many spells previously not obtainable by players. The game takes place in the world of Terroth, consisting of 3 major continents. These continents are quite small in-game, however, meaning you will constantly be running into other players and having interesting interactions with them. This is a core part of gameplay.

Tales is designed to be a professional custom experience, unlike generic 255 custom servers with ridiculous gear, high rates and mind-numbing 'levelling roads'. Tales uses none of the mobs or quests from original WoW, creating a whole new experience with custom lore and a totally fresh game experience placed into a world that feels alive and teeming with adventures all waiting to be had - and it's all done without any custom patches!

    FFA PvP and Mount System
Additionally, there are no factions in Tales, and PvP is free for all. When you kill someone, you will steal 20% of their current money (up to 70% based on Thieving skill). It is important to find friends and a guild who will help you. Mounts in Tales are targetable NPCs that have to physically be purchased and then brought with the player on a journey. Mobs and other players can steal or kill your mount. When you dismount, you can make your mount follow you or just stay in one place.

    Guilds, Gear and Progression
There is no levelling in Tales, and gear is very much customisable. This way, progression happens more through gearing and spell collection, as well as base building and build development. Guilds are a huge part of Tales, as the new guild system allows guilds to claim areas, place destructible objects, lay siege to other guild bases, gain power, and claim guild rewards. The most powerful guild on the server can even set a tax rate, among other things.

The crafting system in Tales is more akin to Minecraft than WoW. You can add items in, and if you can craft something with those items, the option will appear. Recipes are freeform and are mostly undocumented so experimentation is a core part of the server.

    Custom Skills
Tales features a few custom skills: Forging, Thieving, Wisdom, Gathering and Mining. These skills work more similarly to Runescape skills, but are far less restrictive. Skills do not gate content, they simply improve efficiency and results, as well as unlocking rewards.

    Gear and Gear Customization
Gear in Tales is mostly from Loot Bags, which can drop from almost any mob, with higher chances for harder mobs. All gear has a chance to gain 1 - 2 random bonus effects which increase certain stats or have unique effects. The gear can then be broken down and combined onto new gear pieces.

    Hunger Level and Food
In Tales, players have an energy bar which represents their hunger level. Eating food will restore energy. Energy depletes over time, and if the player is swimming, running, fighting or jumping, this rate increases. Players will lose energy slower when on a mount.

Players in Tales can get jobs, which allow them to complete a random task relating to their job every 4 hours in order to get a decent sum of money. Money is very important in Tales. When a player turns in items for their job, some of the items will be sent to a 'player market' where they can be purchased by other players for randomly alternating prices. To access the player market, players must speak with Trader Omar in any town.

This is only a very brief summary of the features in Tales, and does not even almost include everything the server has to offer.
